Interlaboratory Study on Brake Particle Emissions—Part I: Particulate Matter Mass Emissions
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Particle Measurement Programme Informal Working Group (PMP-IWG) coordinated a global interlaboratory study (ILS) on brake wear particle emissions with the participation of 16 testing facilities. Two articles present main outcomes ILS: (I) Particulate matter mass (PM), and (II) Number (PN) emissions. test matrix covered wide variety systems configurations. tested disc brakes were found to emit PM2.5 PM10 that varied between 0.8–4.0 mg/km 2.2–9.5 per brake, respectively, depending type applied load. drum emitted much lower PM due its enclosed nature. Almost 37–45% falls in fine size this fraction being higher for brake. On other hand, almost 50–65% total loss sizes larger than 10 μm or gets lost before measured. most important mechanisms proposed layout are discussed. Finally, measurement variability lab-to-lab reproducibility investigated.

Agricultural Particulate Matter Emissions: Preliminary Study
The Federal Reference Method (FRM) ambient PM10 sampler does not always measure the true PM10 concentration. There are inherent sampling errors associated with the PM10 samplers due to the interaction of particle size distribution (PSD) and sampler performance characteristics. These sampling errors, which are the relative differences between theoretical estimation of the sampler concentration a...

Traffic-related sources have been recognized as a significant contributor of particulate matter particularly within major cities. Exhaust and non-exhaust traffic-related sources are estimated to contribute almost equally to traffic-related PM10 emissions. Non-exhaust particles can be generated either from non-exhaust sources such as brake, tyre, clutch and road surface wear or already exist in ...
متن کاملCharacterization of particulate matter emissions from on-road gasoline and diesel vehicles using a soot particle aerosol mass spectrometer
Particulate matter (PM) emissions were measured in July 2010 from on-road motor vehicles driving through a highway tunnel in the San Francisco Bay area. A soot particle aerosol mass spectrometer (SP-AMS) was used to measure the chemical composition of PM emitted by gasoline and diesel vehicles at high time resolution. Organic aerosol (OA) and black carbon (BC) concentrations were measured durin...
متن کاملField measurement of diesel particulate matter emissions.
A primary means to reduce environmental levels of diesel particulate matter (DPM) exposure to miners is to reduce the amount of DPM emission from the engine. A quick and economic method to estimate engine particulate emission levels has been developed. The method relies on the measurement of pressure increase across a filter element that is briefly used to collect a DPM sample directly from the...
متن کاملParticulate Matter (Fine Particle) and Urologic Diseases
Particulate matter (PM) has been found to damage vital body organs, including the lungs and heart, through vascular damage and oxidative stress. Recently, renal function and chronic urologic diseases have also been found to be related to PM. To investigate this, we reviewed the characteristics of PM related to renal toxicity, including recent studies on the associations of urologic diseases wit...
